I was surprised when I opened the rather plain box to see just how large and hefty this Infrared heat lamp from Cozion was, as I was expecting something much smaller and less well made. This is clearly a genuine health orientated therapeutic lamp. The build quality goes much of the way to justifying the equally hefty £62.99 before discounts price.
In the box was the lamp itself, the large 275w bulb, the metal bulb guard, and a large, well printed but rather brief user guide. The heavy duty 162 cm power cable has a standard fused UK plug and is hard wired into the lamp. Build quality is first rate, with a heavy metal construction that puts me in mind of 1960's NHS. There is nothing wrong with that, this all metal health lamp looks like it will be going strong for many years to come.
Assembling it is simple enough. The large Edison screw bulb (size E27, I think) is easy to fit although getting the bulb guard in place is a bit more tricky as it has to be fitted around the edge of the bulb holder and not into the slots as you might think. When assembled the lamp is firm and very stable and highly unlikely to topple over no matter what position the gooseneck is positioned at, although the heavy duty gooseneck requires some effort to adjust.
Operating the device again is as simple as can be with a single combined On/Off switch and graduated light level control. The gooseneck design means that the lamp can be orientated to treat the affected area with the fully rotating and swivelling head. The 275w bulb outputs in the 600-1400nm range with the intensity of the light controlled by the control knob between 40 and 100 degrees Centigrade. It is weighted towards the most beneficial 1300nm infrared frequency, which is more easily absorbed by the body. It can be used to treat a range of conditions at a recommended range of between 40 to 80 cm from the lamp with no more than four five to ten minute sessions per week. It can be also used for general heating purposes with a heat source free from draughts or wind.
If you need a top quality therapeutic heat lamp then I doubt you will do better than this despite the seemingly high price.
