The wind raced through a woman’s hair as her convertible sped northward on the winding
country roads. Meanwhile the sun shone on a man’s head as his convertible raced southbound on the opposite route… As the woman flew around a corner, she had to swerve frantically to avoid a large pig in the middle of the road.

As she rounded the next corner, the man’s car approached so she tried to warn him by
hollering, “PIG” as loud as she could. The man instantly became furious, so he yelled back,
“HOG” at the top of his lungs. Within seconds, he experienced a paradigm shift as he rounded the next corner and hit the pig!

Like the man who hit the pig, we often see life’s problems and opportunities from our own
limited perspective. Our point of view is usually as if we are IN the picture – while other people are looking AT our picture – giving them insights of completely new perspectives.
Wouldn’t it be great to see life from multiple perspectives! Today I’d like to give you a few
pragmatic ideas designed to do give all of us some brand-new vision!

The first idea is to start a meaning filled conversation with someone who is 80+ years old.
Simply ask them about the joys and regrets of their life and you’ll get new perspectives indeed!

The second idea is to volunteer – just so you can meet people you would not otherwise meet.

And the third idea is to spend time playing with young children. Little kids give us a whole new perspective of trust, innocence and hope. While his disciples were discussing religious righteousness and who was the greatest in heaven, Jesus gave them a huge paradigm shift by saying, “Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Mt 18:3 NIV

What a shift! As we race through life trying to avoid all the pigs and problems on life’s road,
maybe a new perspective is in order… Let’s become like little children more often. Let’s trust
and hope in our Father.

He alone has a heavenly perspective – and he wants to share it with you.
