Exactly right, the Ottawa police tweeted this

"PROTESTORS: We told you to leave. We gave you time to leave. We were slow and methodical, yet you were assaultive and aggressive with officers and the horses. Based on your behaviour, we are responding by including helmets and batons for our safety."

They're violence should be met with equal or greater violence, the time has come.

There is no edict, law, or mandate so horrendous that police will refuse to enforce it. If you think that genocide is off the table, you are wrong. Law enforcement is not always evil, but it definitely can be when the people in charge attempt to use them to evil means.

Many police officers will choose their pension and livelihood over doing the right thing. They'll have no problem following ridiculous orders or trampling over your rights.

I'm just following orders.
I'm just doing my job.

Has never and will never be a good enough excuse to practice evil.
It is only an excuse to be a coward.

I've always loved that excuse. Of course, it didn't stop certain people from being hung after world war II who had the same excuse.
