God is good all the time 444: The Pharisee and the Tax Collector

Luke 18, Jesus tells a parable about the Pharisee and the Tax collector. The focus of this parable is the difference between the prayers of these two men; one was haughty and high brow full of himself, while the other was a very simple prayer about asking for mercy. The interesting thing here is the group that Jesus was talking to when He told this parable. The are described as people that were sure of their righteousness and looked down on others. Wow that makes this parable very painful to hear if you are one of those kind of people and that was the purpose.
