The sentencing phase of the Kim Potter trial, officially ended today with her receiving 16 months in prison for the fatal shooting of Duante Wright. Is the length justified, were there any better options available,, has justice been served.
The judge, in this case, Regina Chu, said she believed lenience was called for Kim Potter as the shooting by Potter was an unfortunate accident and not malicious, intended, or premeditated, in any way. And this was an accident in all senses.
Wright was being pulled over by Potter, but refused to comply, resulting in putting a second officer's life in jeopardy, Potter responded.
