Here is more about Edward:
"My name is Edward Okpa. I was born and raised in Nigeria. Growing up, my parents were involved in public service. I continued my family’s tradition by joining student council in college. Before leaving Nigeria, I found continued motivation to be a public servant of the United States with advice from my father.
I followed my uncle who was in Dallas in 1987. Since then, I have become a resident of Dallas and have never moved. In 1995, I became a citizen of the United States, took pride in my oath of becoming a citizen of the United States the right way.
I ran for Mayor of Dallas in 2003, and I was the first immigrant to run for office in Dallas within 8 years of holding American citizenship.
I have been appointed to various positions within the state and federal government. I am self-employed and work in the commercial real estate industry.
I am married to my wife Ronke who is an electrical engineer. I also have a son, Ejike, who has been accepted to the U.S. Marine Corps and a daughter, Adaora, who works for the CDC Foundation.
I am excited to run for U.S. Congress so that the people of Texas Congressional District 32 have a voice in Washington, D.C . – and I will put your interests first!"
