“Jesus can lift our hearts, soothe our sorrows, heal our wounds, and drive away our fears.” Those words sound like something Franklin Graham or Pastor John MacArthur would say. But on today’s edition of Family Talk, you’ll discover that America’s 40th President, Ronald Reagan, made that declaration. In his 1983 speech at the National Religious Broadcasters convention, this God-fearing president cited Isaiah 40:8 which says, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God shall stand forever.” Reagan’s contention that “the Bible can touch our hearts, order our minds, refresh our souls” is as true today as it was then. Listen to this inspirational speech that reveals the vision of the man and the boldness that God placed on his heart.

About Today's Guest: Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan was the 40th President of the United States, proudly serving from 1981 to 1989. He previously served as the 33rd governor of California from 1967 to 1975 after a career as a well-known Hollywood actor and union leader. During his presidency, Reagan pursued policies that reflected his personal belief in individual freedom. He brought economic changes to America, expanded the military and contributed to the end of the Cold War. His supply-side economic policies advocated tax reduction, economic deregulation, and reduction in government spending. Having suffered from Alzheimer's disease in his later years, Ronald Reagan died on June 5, 2004. His beloved wife, Nancy, died in 2016 from congestive heart failure. They are survived by their grown children.
