Social Media Fact-Checkers Defend Corporate Greed

Journalist Ryan Grim noticed a peculiar and alarming trend happening on Instagram: the platform is flagging posts that blame inflation on corporate greed as “missing context” according to fact-checkers. Instagram and parent company Facebook are labeling these posts as misleading in the same way that misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic has been flagged.
