Baba and the Future - Part 7

In talk seven we talk about causation. Here is the summary slide that captures the content of the talk.

* Only experience to explain
* Its cause can’t be in experience because a cause cannot be in its effect.
* Hypostasis (inventing imaginary mythemes) doesn’t work, makes no sense, and looks for causes in effects.
* A cause requires the process by which it causes. Which no one can produce.
* We seek a cause and how it causes – the process by which it causes our experience with all its wonders.

This was a difficult talk to give, and I was very tense and not in good form. I skipped breakfast, which in hindsight might have been a bad idea. But I got through all the material I intended to.

Some errata:

(00:56) I said 'slide' at the beginning, and meant a 'seesaw' you put a baby on and it goes up when you push down -- to explain correlation.

(21:20) When I explain the holographic universe theory I say 'a billion to one chance' when I should have said 'one in a billion.'

(1:14:55) I said I asked my friends 'now do you remember hypostasis?' when I meant to say I asked them later 'you remember the historical fallacy?'

(1:15:11) Here I myself state the historical fallacy backward, which shows how hard it is to state. I said it means 'looking for the effect in the cause.' The correct order of the words is 'looking for the cause in the effect.'

I was tired and that's my only excuse. Ott's essays: https://sites.google.com/site/eopearl...
