Hi Dr. Karin! I love your platform and am hoping you can give some insight.

I have been dating my boyfriend for almost 2 years now. He is the first man I’ve ever dated who has a kid.

In the beginning it was all light and fluffy but as things have gotten more serious I am starting to realize that kids are a dealbreaker for me (you don’t know what you don’t know).

But every time I think about leaving I can’t bring myself to do it because I’m so in love with him.

I just know that this situation from his past is not something i want to be part of.

I’m absolutely torn between my love for him and building the life I want for myself—which doesn’t include someone else’s teenage son.
