The Real Life Love Story Behind ‘I Love Lucy’

“I Love Lucy,” one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history, was based on the real-life love story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. A new documentary, “Lucy and Desi,” sheds light on that romance, and also the end of the love story. Lucy and Desi’s two children participate in the documentary, as do legendary comedians Carol Burnett and Bette Midler. They became a Hollywood power couple, and their studio, Desi-Lu, produced some of the biggest hits of the 1960s.
