Attachment Issues or Selfishness?

Question:
I’ve been dating this guy for six months. We’ve introduced our children to each other and everything was going great until quarantine. His children’s mom works in a hospital with COVID-19 patients. He works on shipyards with confirmed cases.

My kids and I have been quarantined for about a month and fortunate enough to work from home.

I’ve decided seeing my boyfriend and his kids right now isn’t the right choice. On top of the possibility of getting my kids sick (which is enough reason), I could possibly transfer this virus to my ex-husband who is in a high-risk category due to a lung disease.

I’ve explained this to my boyfriend. At first he seemed understanding but now he tries to rationalize the risk with me. Also, he sends me texts constantly throughout the day of “I miss you.” The more clingy he gets, the more I pull back. I’m starting to think either he has codependency issues or I have some sort of detachment issue.
