Macaws are beautiful and charming birds

The scarlet macaw (Ara macao) is a large and colorful macaw.
They are animals that live in the tropical forests of America.
They range from southeastern Mexico to the Amazon rainforest in parts of Peru,
Bolivia and Brazil in the lowlands to an altitude of 500 m (1640 ft) (at least in the past)
and up to an altitude of 1000 m (3281 ft). This bird has experienced
Local Extinction through habitat destruction and capture for the parrot trade,
but it is still widespread and common. In the past, they were scattered from north to south of Tamaulipas.
This bird can still be found on Coiba Island. The Skarlet Macaw is the national bird of Honduras.
