😢 Poor Little Baby Chick 🐤

Was in Atwood's a couple of nights ago to pick up more oats and seed, and I was disappointed to find that they have started getting in their chick shipments again already. 😞 It was exactly one year ago that I rescued my two hens from them, after they had been shipped during that last arctic storm that hit Texas, and nearly every other chick in their shipment died. They gave me 7 weren't doing well, and only 2 of those survived - Cry Baby and Brownie. I took several more chicks from them afterward last year, who were not in good shape, and none of them survived. On this night, I noticed this little black Silkie looking one was holding her leg up against her body and hopping on one foot. A chick like that isn't going to survive in a store setting with a dozen other chicks trampling her and beating her out for food and warm spots. And the store doesn't give a damn if she dies... So, we're going to try this again and hope she's a fighter, like Cry Baby and Brownie were.

Update: Sadly, after fighting to save her, like so many other injured chicks I've taken in, she died the next night 😢 I am presenting this video of her anyway, because this was her last day on earth, and the only time in her life that she was ever paid individual attention to by a person, as if she was important... 💔
