Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said that, the government would be back on track by the end of the year, after the Coronavirus induced a significant backlog, in processing immigration applications and lengthy delays, for individuals pursuing status in Canada.

Last year, the government declared that, it would spend $85 million to push the backlogged applications, and be explicitly used to employ more staff.

More immigration workers will help the government, bring back on top of its specified turnaround duration for study, and work authorization, permanent resident renewals, visitor visas and evidence of citizenship applications.

Fraser said that, as they had already fulfilled the usual target for processing, the family unification applications were notably absent.

Fraser said in a recent interview that, he should identify that these would not solve all the issues, with Canada's Immigration capacity overnight. Still, it would begin to create a difference, and some could start to make a difference fast.
