As official inflation grows from 2% to 5%, people start to take notice of how it affects their purchasing power. And while it's true that you're "losing ground" if your wage doesn't increase with inflation, but don't just expect your company to increase your wage to match inflation.
What you should do is focus on increasing your value by growing your role, your responsibilities, and your results. The market may also increase for your skills, but you have less control over that.
