In Calgary, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney makes a funding announcement in support of the Centre for Newcomers, a non-profit immigrant settlement agency. He comments on the arrests and weapons seizure carried out by the RCMP at the Coutts border crossing, the site of an ongoing blockade in protest of COVID-19 health measures. Kenney also responds to questions about the potential federal use of the Emergencies Act to address blockades and occupations across Canada. Joining the premier are Ron Orr, provincial minister of culture and status of women; Muhammad Yaseen, associate minister of immigration; Jeremy Nixon, the MLA for Calgary-Klein; and Anila Lee Yuen, president and CEO of the Centre for Newcomers.
