When a person prays to God to send help to them He takes it seriously. His answer of help will come in the form of many different things and ways. Prayer after all is really the cry of the heart that touches God's heart. Many people that are in hard lives and circumstances, that find no way out are those who really pray the best prayers over all.

I read this morning about Paul when he had a vision of "a man" from Macedonia standing and calling to him to come over there and help them. So he and Silas went to Macedonia right away. Paul had no idea who this man was, only that "a man" was calling him to come there. It is apparent that though Paul and Silas had been ministering in that area and the vicinity to many people, there was no mention of any particular man.

Until they were arrested and thrown into the inner prison. "At midnight they prayed and sang praises to God." There was an earthquake and the prison doors flew open, and the jailer awakened out of sleep and was about to kill himself. That jailer was about to kill himself with a sword, but Paul cried out to him not to do it, saying, We are all here."

Next it said, "Then the jailer called for a light," and fell down saying, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved." When he called for a light, he really was given the true light of the gospel of Jesus Christ that he was had prayed for in the Macedonian call. In that hour he and his whole household were saved, and "they rejoiced." The next day Paul and Silas were all released.

That one prayer of "a man" who was unsaved, stood and prayed to God to send the man Paul. In essence, the jailer really was the prisoner who became the "Lord's freeman." Never underestimate what God will do with you as His servant when you ask Him to use you. And never underestimate what God will do for you when you stand up and pray for Him to deliver you.

"Whom the Son sets free is free indeed." "Satan cannot deny but that great wonders have been wrought by prayer. As the spirit of prayer goes up, so his kingdom goes down. Satan's strategems against prayer are three. First, if he can, he will keep thee from prayer. If that be not feasible, secondly, he will strive to interrupt thee in prayer. And, thirdly, if that plot takes not, he will labour to hinder the success of thy prayer." ~William Gurnall
