Upward Bow Pose | Becoming A Better Athlete | Urdva Dhanurasana

Upward Bow pose is an advanced yoga pose that stretches and opens the entire anterior chain of the body. This pose also strengthens the elbow extensors, deltoid, gluteal muscles, and erector spinae.

Upward Bow Pose can be a challenging pose to attain with correct alignment, so be careful that you aren't pushing your body beyond its current level of flexibility and strength

On this video, you can see that we have one of the athletes performing the pose, I do this pose for a number of reasons with my new athletes to determine how mobile/strong the body is. In this instance, the individual does Mixed Martial Arts, so it is in his best interest to be able to get his body in difficult positions and sustain the hold so his body adapts.

Also, it is well-published now on how the body 'traps tension' in certain areas of the body whether it be from personal life, work/family.
