Reestablishing Family Government
32nd in our series the Book of 1 Peter

I. The Foundation of Family Government - Genesis 1:26-28

A. At the beginning God made mankind male and female
1. There are no other genders, those are all lies
2. Sodomy is an abominable perversion of God’s created order
B. Both male and female are the image of God
C. Together in marriage they are the most accurate depiction of the Trinity - Genesis 2:23-24
1. Two persons in One flesh, illustrates Three Persons in One Being
2. This is why Satan hates marriage so intensely

II. Satan’s Number One Target is the God ordained Family Government - 1 Peter 3:1-2, compare 1 Peter 2:13, 18

A. The roles are not indicative of the person’s value - John 5:36
1. Submit doesn’t speak to the issue of equality - Genesis 1:26-28
2. In Christ we are all equally valued - Galatians 3:28
3. Are their limits to that submission?
4. The blessing of a godly wife to a non-christian husband
B. Beauty is in the eye of God - 1 Peter 3:3-4
1. Not saying that outward has no place, but it is 2nd place
2. A spirit which is meek - trusting God’s goodness, humble, not occupied with self
3. Quiet - tranquillity coming from the heart, causing no disturbance or quarrel with others
C. The example of godly women - 1 Peter 3:5-6
1. These women trusted God, and therefore keep godly adornment their top priority
2. Sarah called Abraham lord - Ephesians 5:33
