Bam! You're Flying in the Clouds Now! Helicopter IIMC Training with the ICARUS Device

Lester and I try out the new ICARUS View Limiting Device in the Robinson R-44 to simulate instrument conditions and inadvertent into Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IIMC). Great training! Some important notes:

1) This video is just to demo the Icarus that was sent to us to try. It is not a training video or intended to demonstrate any techniques or procedures.
2) Although Lester and I practiced 180 and 360 turns in simulated IMC conditions, the 56 Seconds to Live course does not recommend turning around to find clear air once you're established in IMC. This was just part-task training for us to make it a little more challenging under the hood.
3) IIMC is a threat and should be an open discussion for aviators. Some of what we talked about was just that - two pilots talking through what the options might be and what we could do. We are not claiming to be authorities on the matter.
4) I strongly encourage anyone flying helicopters to join HAI and take the 56 Seconds to Live Course. It is well worth it and a great learning experience.
