In this video Dave and Sean bring you along as they explore the Architecture of Skateboarding, and how architects have shaped and continue to shape skateboarding. The building the brothers chose to highlight in this video is Martin Luther King Elementary in Pittsburgh's North Side neighborhood, also known as MLK Elementary, or simply MLK. Made famous in recent years as a favorite spot for visiting professional skateboarders; Dave explains the history of the building, the architects who created it, its design, and why it is architecturally significant. Sean follows up the design and history lesson with a deep dive into why Martin Luther King Elementary has become an important and historically significant location in the local Pittsburgh skateboarding scene, while also being elevated to a level of national and international spotlight. Sean is stoked to explain why professional skateboarders who visit Pittsburgh are drawn to this location, find it a must visit, and why it has been such a prominent location in so many of their videos.

With Pittsburgh having so many hidden architectural gems, secrete locations for skateboarding, and straight up quirky iconic locations Dave and Sean wanted to bring to the channel a new series dedicated to highlighting these locations and sharing them with the public.

This video is meant for anyone who is curious about architecture, for students, aspiring architects, passionate about history, loves skateboarding, has goals of becoming a professional skateboarder, for those that want to learn more about their own city, and for those individuals that just wants to have a good time. We're glad to share an architect's view point on skateboarding, and a skateboarder's view on how skateboarding is shaped through creative exploration of architecture.

Stay tuned for more videos in this series. We hope you had a little fun, and maybe even learned something new while watching this one.
