More US states remove mask mandates

Several American states have removed mask mandates as the Omicron wave subsides.

This comes despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommending their use to reduce further transmission.

Nevada has become the latest state to remove its indoor mask rules, following the lead of New York and Illinois.

Governors have cited the decline in cases for the reason as the seven-day average has fallen to 219,000 cases – down from 800,000 in January.
