From Bakersfield to Ukiah Is a Long Walk

The Mayor asked us to do a week of weaving Country music with Rock artists so we've been cooking up a week's worth of segues like that. Today Dwight Yoakum and Buck Owens are walking the streets of Bakersfield, California, with Flaco on accordion. We could mention that the Mayor used to play accordion but there's something about an NDA we signed, so we have to stop right here with that.... Anyway, from there we go with the Doobies headed to Ukiah, California, which begs the question of why would anyone want to go anywhere in California or even near it? Would you?

Segue City will be a recurring short-form programming element of "The Big Kahuna" - one of GET's developmental Internet Radio formats created by Dain Schult. It will also be expanded as a part of that format and finally evolve into a full, long-form programming element on its own. It’s all a part of GET’s radio division – American Internet & Radio (“AIR”).

The feature will be available for integration into other AIR Classic Rock terrestrial stations in the future as well. It revives the art of mixing two songs together in a seamless pattern where it is tough to tell where the first song ended and the second one began. Sometimes the segues may also revolve around thematic ideas like matching or similar song titles. We'll try anything because no two Segue City Specials will ever be exactly the same...
