Birds prey training 🦅🦆

At Wildwood, we train our birds of prey (owls and eagles) to accept food from the keepers which enables us to fly them.

In order to do this the keepers have to have a close bond with the birds, which means spending a lot of time with them in the initial stages of training.

We fly the birds to give them exercise and enrichment. It enables the birds to display natural behaviours and receive their food at the end of each flight. Similar to how they would fly and catch a meal in the wild.

We also do public bird displays in the park, giving us a valuable opportunity to talk to our visitors about the beautiful native bird species that we fly daily.
