My wife, three kids and I were on our way by car to Melbourne, FL, to attend a conference at which I was invited to speak. On our first evening en route, I received a phone call at our hotel from James Coram, business manager of the Concordant Publishing Concern. He warned me to be on my guard for divisive teachings. "Not everyone at these meetings believes the same things," he said. (I was the newest kid on the block; this was only the third conference I'd ever attended.) "And this particular conference in Melbourne is infamous for discord—as I think you will find out." Was there anyone in particular I needed to be on guard against? Indeed, there was.
