The KJV translation of John 3:16 reads: "God so LOVED the world..." Kind of makes it sound like He loved it back when He sent His Son, but maybe He's not so crazy about it now. Who knows? But the Concordant Literal New Testament has: "Thus God LOVES the world."
What's the difference? Introducing a Greek verb tense that you've probably never heard of (the "aorist"), where God relates to us a timeless a FACT rather than merely a past EVENT. Wait until you see other passages that recognizes this sparkling (and sexy) Greek verb tense.
