For Ottawa businesses that started the year in a COVID-19 lockdown, the past weeks have hit hard as protests continue to paralyze Canada’s capital.
Many small businesses have stayed open through the protest, unable to shoulder the cost of another shutdown. And reduced foot traffic resulting from the protest has impacted their bottom line.
Meanwhile, the security costs continue to mount as the demonstrations drag on and experts believe prices could rise a result of blockages at the Coutts, Alta and Windsor, Ont. borders. Anne Gaviola reports on the toll the protests are taking on Canada’s economy.
