Zacchaeus Sunday is the unofficial beginning of preparation for Great Lent. We tell his story, concentrating on how his example is the exact way in which we must act every day of our life, and especially even more so during Great Lent. The Lord told him to come down from the tree with haste, and we must live also with haste when it comes to doing things that are good. Another way of saying this is that we must live with intensity. The Lord also told Zacchaeus that “today” salvation came to his house. This is also true for us, if we live with intensity, and we explain why.
