Pak43 88mm - Walkaround - US 6th Armored Division Monument.

The Pak43 "Panzerjagerkanone 43"is a German 88mm anti-tank gun developed
by Krupp in 1941/42, in competition with the Rheinmetall 88mm Flak 41
anti-aircraft gun and used during WW2.

The Pak43 was the most powerful ani-tank gun of the Wehrmacht to see service
and 2100 were produced it was also used as the main gun on the Tiger II, Nashorn,
Elefant and the Jagdpanther.

The main version had a cruciform mount. But to speed up production and keep costs down
the new Panzerabwehrkanone 43 Pak43/41 with a two-wheel split-trail carriage was developed.

The Pak43 at Troisvierges on the 337 road was found destroyed in the area, it probably got
damaged beyond repair and was then sabotaged by its crew, by disabling he gun barrel.

Today you can still see the battle damaged on this anti tank gun.

After the war, it was placed at the monument in honor of the US 6th Armored Division,
which liberated the town of Troisvierges in Luxembourg on 23 January 1945.
