In 2002, "Star Trek: Nemesis" proved a box office failure and disappointed many fans, many of whom believed the film had been more of an exercise in cinematic frivolity than traditional Trek themes. Among its many points of contention, many fans were critical of the "Argo," a wheeled all-terrain vehicle which, to many, seemed out of place in the 24th century. However, a closer examination of the Star Trek canon reveals that a variety of land and sea vehicles are not new to Starfleet personnel. After all, what is so "advanced" about Starfleet crews traversing vast and dangerous alien environments solely on foot?
