Camping Alone in Japan...or NOT!

This winter solo camp took place in the Tokyo forest at Tama Hills Recreation area. A quiet forest, rarely utilized. Especially in the winter time. With that, the Japanese Tanuki (raccoon dogs) population flourishes. & they are NOT afraid to enter your camp. While they are not dangerous I have seen the tanuki get aggressive and try to run off with my gear in the past.

So, it was war. I had to defend my camp at all costs! :)
Of course I'm joking but it's best to not interact with wild animals. Just know your surroundings to keep yourself and the animal safe.

I also discuss some of Tama Hills history. Hope you're interested.

This is my life in japan! Enjoy.
