Over the weekend GoFundMe announced that it had blocked the funds to the "Freedom Convoy" and instead will send the money to "established charities verified by GoFundMe." The government is behind this initiative. The Ottawa mayor said that he had contacted GoFundMe and hoped it would temporarily freeze the money raised until the truckers leave the city. Several Republican attorneys general vowed to investigate GoFundMe’s move.
