How much gun can you get for $400 these days? Turns out, a lot. The Extar EP9 9mm carbine is a perfect example, and after +1200 rounds, we think it deserves your attention.

Thanks and credit @Honest Outlaw for the putting this gun on our radar. If you're looking for more info, he has several videos extensively covering the EP9.

The Extar features polymer construction, the metal parts consisting of the bold carrier group, barrel, and a handful of other parts. Though this may scare some traditionalists, the gun feels far from cheap and the afforded weight savings are huge.

Not only is it affordable and light, but reliable. Not once have we had to contact Extar for issues with the EP9. It has been a very easy and care-free gun to own, and we did purchase it with our own money back when it was retailing for $419.

Global Ordnance was generous to provide ammo near the end of our review process.
