Tying The Guinea & Orange - Dressed Irons

The Guinea & Orange is a simple wet fly I came up with to just experiment with Guinea Fowl flight feathers. Since Guinea is used in a number of established wet fly patterns it may well be that this fly, or some variation, has already been created. If so, I am not aware of it and I did not do a whole lot of research, I was more focused on experimenting with the Guinea Fowl feathers. The other aspects of the fly come from the Black & Orange and other wet flies I have recently tied. The Guinea feathers I found be sort of like turkey. Wide at the butt end of the barb and long and slender out near the tip. Also, not as stiff as duck primary but still able to hold their shape well. I will have to find a couple more patterns that call for Guinea Fowl and continue experimenting. - Enjoy
