Angeline the Baker | Traditional Folk Song | Banjo Song

Angeline The Baker is an old time traditional banjo song. Angeline has a suiter but when ever he comes around her father runs him off. I sing and play it on the mountain banjo. Woody, one of my cats pays a short visit in this one. He walks out before the song is even half over. Turns out he has about the exact same retention rate as my YouTube audience according to analytics. lol

Angeline The Baker - lyrics
Banjo in standard tuning but tuned down to C sharp

1. Angeline the baker lives in village green, The way I always loved her beats all you ever seen.

2. Her father was a miller, they called him Uncle Sam. I never will forget her, unless I take a dram. CHO.

CHORUS: Angeline the baker, age of forty-three, I gave her candy by the peck, and she won't marry me.

3. Angeline is handsome, Angeline is tall, They say she sprained her ankle a-dancing at the ball. CHO.

4. She can't do hard work because she is not stout, She bakes her biscuits every day, and pours the coffee out. CHO.

CHORUS: Angeline the baker, age of forty-three, I gave her candy by the peck, and she won't marry me.

5. I never will forget her, no matter where I go. I said I'd marry Angeline just twenty years ago. CHO.

6. The last time that I saw her was at the county fair. Her father almost run me home and told me to stay there.

CHORUS: Angeline the baker, age of forty-three, I gave her candy by the peck, and she won't marry me.
