Douglas County, Colorado - Video footage from a sheriff's deputy's body camera captured his rescue of a pet dog from a burning car in Colorado. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office released a video of the tense moment that occurred on January 22, 2022. Deputy Sheriff Michael Gregorek drives up to the upset man and the SUV, from which smoke is pouring out. A man shouted that his dog was trapped inside a burning car. Without hesitation, Deputy Gregorek took out his retractable baton and smashed the passenger window and rear window.
A few seconds later, a dog named Hank came to the back window, and the owner tried to pull her out, but he was obscured by black smoke pouring out of the car. He shouts "Oh my God!" and walks away. Then Gregorek gets inside and with great effort pulls Hank to freedom. With Hank in his arms, he runs up to the snow and lowers Hank into it, continuing to cough violently from the smoke he has just inhaled. A veterinarian living next door examined the dog, and Hank was unharmed. It wasn't long before he started running in the snow again.
