Contained in this video is a previously lost interview with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Carl Perkins. It is taken from a 1/4" reel to reel tape that was purchased at a small town auction in Iowa and given to me by a channel viewer. In this interview, Carl talks about the biggest disappointment of his career and how he was ALMOST the first of the Sun Records alumni to break onto TV. He was scheduled to appear on the Perry Como Show and the Ed Sullivan Show in early 1956, but a terrible accident sidelined his plans. Had he done so, he would have beaten Elvis to TV and that might have changed the course of rock and roll history as we know it. In the future, I will publish more interviews from this tape which haven't seen the light of day in over 50 years! The Statler Brothers, The Carter Family, and Johnny Cash were all interviewed by Bobby Wootton (later changed to Bobby Wooten) a KAYO radio DJ in Seattle. They were all touring together at this time. The interviews were made at the Seattle Opera House on June 16th, 1967, and were meant to be played for the troops in Vietnam. They contain some really interesting stuff. Hope you enjoy!
