I. THE PRINCIPLE

Proverbs 22:3 "A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself."

A prudent man is equipped with wisdom from the Lord. That wisdom enables him to discern and detect evil. Apart from the Word of God it is impossible to rightly discern evil. Instead we are left in the morass of empty relativism and debating the merits of one man’s opinion versus another, but with no absolute standard of morality.

But the prudent man, doesn’t just acknowledge the existence of evil in general, or hypothesize about it in ivory tower discussions. The prudent man, equipped by the Word of God applies it to the relevant issues of life. The wisdom from the Word of God enables him to see the evil of his day, AND He takes practical steps to align the steps of his life accordingly in light of the evil down the road.

Sadly, the condition of the church today is such that it is so ignorant of the Word of God that it cannot even discern the ENORMOUS evil of our day RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. So it is walking right into the evil.

II. THE PRACTICE

Noah, BY FAITH, prepared. Not because he was street smart, not because he was a prepper nut by nature. But by FAITH.

By faith Noah PREPARED. Faith in the Word of God should be externalized in our practical everyday life. Preparation is not incompatible with faith. True faith will express itself in its actions. Noah didn’t say, “I know there are a lot of bad people out there, and God must judge the wickedness, but God loves me so much, I know he wants to save me, so I will JUST GO ABOUT LIFE AS USUAL and wait for God to save me. NO! He prudently PREPARED a means of saving his household.

Are you searching the Scriptures to discern what is right and wrong and are you making preparation for the saving of your family in light of God's impending judgement?
