Good evening members of the pack! I just recently received a copy of One Man's Wilderness. The book is 269 pages. I will not do a full book review for you, as I have not read it yet. Dick Proenneke retired at age 50 in 1967 and decided to build his own cabin on the shore of Twin Lakes. The first summer he scouted for the best cabin site, and cut and peeled the logs he would need for his cabin. Dick Proenneke returned the next summer to finish the cabin where he lived for over 30 years. Dick filmed his adventures.

This man went his own way. He decided to escape society and go completely off the grid. I am working on paying off my debt and acquiring land in the woods. Many people from blue states have been moving into the area I am from. They fled New York and California, and likely will bring their beliefs into my red state. If there is nothing available in the years ahead, I may just move to Alaska. Well see, I may find something nearby. I have considered both options. I could buy a plot of land in Alaska, and visit there whenever I want, but mainly live on a plot of land in the lower 48, that is still isolated from people.

Dick Proenneke was a very clever man. He built everything himself. I do not know, where all of you are located, but if you have ever been in the woods, void of all humans, it is like an experience you will never know. I would like to live that way everyday, like he did. I don't feel I belong in our current society, the way its plunging and being destroyed. I know many other men feel the same way, we are just done with the craziness. Men are content to live a peaceful life without chaos. I was locked in one room for 18 days, I was in charge of 18 military people. Many of them were going stir crazy. We were only allowed 1 hour a day outside of our room and we could not leave the fenced in area. I have no problems being isolated. I like the fresh clean air, the running clean water, the birds chirping, and all the wildlife and tree's. I have only spent 3 weeks in Alaska, I went during the winter, I would like to visit in the summer.

Many men, like myself want to live away from the hustle and bustle. I am pretty fortunate now, but its still not what I want. If you have a dream or a goal. Work hard to achieve it, you can do what ever you want in life. I highly recommend getting the book, but for now. I will play the short version of Dick Proenneke's adventures.
