Modern Day Book Burning

We in western democracies like to think of ourselves as bastions of free speech. Book burnings are something that would only occur under the rule of dictators. They are not something that would happen in the lands of liberty and freedom. Yet, free speech is under assault across the planet.

But the old way of using fire to destroy knowledge, turning it into smoke and ash, is being replaced with more insidious ways in our increasingly digital world.
