Rattlesnakes are most commonly found in desert areas. However, some of their species are also found in grassy areas to swamps in the Americas. The threat from the life of rattlesnakes is increasingly disturbed due to the large number of hunting for rattlesnakes which are considered dangerous.

Several species of rattlesnake such as the timber rattler, massasauga and canebrake are listed as endangered.
