Candice Bergen says she is focused squarely on strengthening the conservative movement as the newly elected interim Conservative Party leader.

Bergen was named interim leader late Wednesday night following the ousting of Erin O’Toole earlier in the day at the party’s caucus meeting.

“I’m ready, and so is our caucus. Over the next few months, my colleagues and I will be listening and acting. My goal as Interim Leader is to strengthen our movement and leave the next leader with a party that’s ready to win,” she said in her first official statement as interim leader.

Canada needs strong conservative leadership

The next leader must be an authentic individual, who doesn't wake up each morning having to decide which version of themselves they should be today.

Last Friday, Erin O'Toole sat solidly, if uncomfortably, on top of the Conservative throne. Having dispatched, with what seemed like relative ease, all those who had publicly sought his removal.

Senator Denise Batters was ejected from caucus. Bert Chen was removed from National Council. MP Shannon Stubbs was thrown ruthlessly under the bus.
And then came Saturday.

The arrival of the passion-fueled Freedom Convoy disrupted the entire national conversation. Truckers from across Canada and their equally frustrated allies, rallied against the vaccine mandates and remaining COVID-19 restrictions.
But far from seizing the moment, O'Toole was nowhere to be found. In fact, he initially tried to avoid the issue entirely until finally settling for an incompressible smorgasbord of platitudes and contradictory positions that satisfied no one and further eroded his position.

Trudeau gov’t reintroduces 2021 bill that sought to regulate free speech on the internet

(LifeSiteNews) – The Canadian government under Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is once again trying to push through legislation to regulate the internet, after reintroducing a failed controversial bill from last year on Tuesday.

Liberal Minister of Canadian Heritage Pablo Rodriguez introduced a bill titled, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts yesterday.

ast year after winning the 2021 federal election, the Trudeau Liberals promised to reintroduce the controversial internet legislation.

At of press time, the text of the Tuesday bill has not been released. However, the last version of this bill, under the name Bill C-10, “An Act to Amend the Broadcasting Act,” drew fire for its targeting of user-generated content on social media platforms.
