Hook: Mustad 3906, 3906b or 3399, #10 - #16
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer Silk, Brown
Rib: Pearsall's Gossamer Silk, Yellow
Body: Dark Gray Hare's Mask
Collar: Grouse Hackle

This weeks fly is the August Brown, a fly designed for later in the season, hence the name, when the waters are clearer and the fish not quit as aggressive. It is a fun simple fly to tie. I like it because it uses silk thread for the rib instead of the usual tinsel of some type. As fly tiers we sometimes overlook the fact the tying thread can also be used as part of the fly other than holding it together. Anyway, a simply straightforward fly. I hope it provides some fun at the vise and on the water. - Enjoy
