Tripletail Fishing Crab Trap Buoys off Anna Maria (Snook 'N Reds Bonus!)

Tripletail are a peculiar species of fish that lead lives that are mostly hidden from people. They are usually only seen when they are attracted to floating objects or fixed structures. They can be found from inside bays and coastal rivers, to many hundreds of miles offshore in the ocean. They are often seen around floating debris where they feed on smaller fish and crustaceans that seek refuge in the deep waters. Triple tail are a bit odd looking, yet they pack a powerful punch when hooked. They are known for exciting drag screaming runs and even jump out of the water acrobatically like a snook or tarpon. Last but not least, they are absolutely delicious eating!

In this episode we first scour the crap trap lines off Long Boat Key and Anna Maria Island for our intended target, the Tripletail. After that, we head back inside Tampa Bay to chum up some snook and redfish using live whitebait, aka Scaled Sardines. We focused on fishing around large mullet schools that were densely packed and very active. Once the bite started it didn't stop until we left!
