Still pictures and some old video clips I found. Good memories!
An easy hike to a mountaintop with some of the best views and wildflowers in BC.The summit is an easy 1.5km, with an elevation gain of 150m. Alpine flowers are in full bloom in early August, but fantastic views of the Slocan Valley are available year round.

The hardest part of the journey is the 17km drive up an old gravel road from the village of Sandon. The road is narrow, steep and bumpy, but can be navigated in a high-clearance two-wheel-drive vehicle. There are two parking lots located at the edge of an alpine meadow.

There are 2 trails to Idaho Lookout. Both meet on the ridge for the last leg of the hike up to the summit. They are the same length, but one is less travelled. If you would like to take the less travelled trail to the lookout, park at the Alamo parking area. The flowers along this section of the trail are every bit as showy as the ones near the ridge parking lot. A picnic table near the Alamo parking area is an added convenience, not available at the ridge parking area. Trail rehabilitation efforts are under way. Please, keep to the marked trails to avoid destroying the fragile alpine vegetation that you have come to admire. https://westkootroute.ca/idaho-peak/
