1-they knew the time was near
he faced his end without fear
they walked the family in the room
no words were spoken
they could sense the feeling of doom
2-as he lay upon the bed
thinking something should be said
but, when he was asked, he refused
it was up to him if he chose to
3-he had a distance in his eyes
of a man about to die
a lot of things he'd like to change
in a short while his mind
would be free from that game
4-then he thought he heard his mama's voice
he remembered a time when he was just a boy
a time of innocence and youth
unlike this current moment of truth

5-they placed a needle in his vein
he would pass without any pain
he took a few deep breaths
and it wasn't long before he tasted death
6-the family all held hands
thinking of their loved one
who was murdered by him
maybe this can help them heal
it's been such a long
and difficult ordeal...
