How to make your own laundry soap- 3 ingredients, super easy!

This is an easy way to make your own laundry soap with only three ingredients. We make our own soap for a variety of reasons. Sensitive skin, looking for a natural soap option, biodegradable, money savings, and more.

The recipe below will make enough soap for about 10 residential size loads of laundry using about 1/3 cup per load. For off grid laundry by hand, I use about half of that per load.

To start take 1 bar of Castile soap and grate it into a powder. I use the smallest grating holes to get the finest powder. This helps it dissolve in the water and not leave residue on your clothes. Then add 2 cups of washing soda and 15-20 drops of the essential oils of your choosing. Make sure that the essential oils you use are safe for skin (it will be very diluted in the water from the laundry as some say they are safe if diluted).
