The Gaffey Nature Center

The Gaffey Nature Center by Bureau of Sanitation, City of Los Angeles, features EPIC sand hydroponics and a Seitec Water Silo recirculating water via solar pump. The land leased from CalTrans is located at the Southern end of the 110 freeway in San Pedro, CA. The Gaffey Nature center features five EPIC sand hydroponic growing areas within a bioswale, a nature classroom surrounding the 12,000 gallon Seitec Water Silo, and decorative signage including a variety of signage featuring local sting ray species near the solar pump controls.
