Talking hydration.

If you have an ileostomy you know (or maybe you don't yet) that it can be a challenge to stay hydrated. This is normally due the missing colon or lack of colon working properly, taking waste out of the body & allowing the body to "reuse" the water as well. When we don't have that water retained by the body, it can lead to dehydration. So, staying properly hydrated is crucial. It is for anyone but it's harder to stay hydrated when your colon is removed (or not working properly).

In this video, I share just a couple of ways I fight to stay on track with my hydration. I've been to the ER several times over the last almost four years after total colectomy (colon removal) so I've had some experience here. I am finally learning how to balance my water - and food intake (that counts for hydration too) along with learning what beverages and foods to be wary of as causing me to dry out, by way of too high output and/or thinning output. Water is life =)
